The dentist reshapes the tooth and takes a digital scan or impression, then fits a temporary crown to protect it.
3. Crown Fabrication
Your custom crown is made to match the shape, size, and colour of your natural teeth.
4. Fitting & Bonding
Once ready, the permanent crown is checked for fit and bite, then bonded securely in place.

It usually takes two visits. At the first, we prepare the tooth and fit a temporary crown, then at the second we fit your permanent crown once it's been made by the lab.
We numb the area fully before starting, so you won't feel any pain during the preparation or fitting. Some mild sensitivity afterwards is normal but settles within a few days.
With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, a crown can last fifteen years or more. We'll monitor it during your visits at our Edinburgh clinic and let you know if it ever needs replacing.
In most cases, yes, as long as there's enough healthy tooth structure remaining to support it. If there isn't, your dentist will discuss alternatives like an implant or bridge to find the best solution for you.
Every appointment starts with a fixed £50 consultation including digital X-rays. Any treatment is quoted clearly in writing before we begin. 0% interest payment plans are available.
